The Best LEGO Designs Are Now Available

For many, LEGO is a childhood toy that brings back memories of sprawling out on the floor, captivated by the creation of a multicolored masterpiece. For adults, it can be a fun way to improve the skills of engineering and math while also expressing creativity.

For some it’s never boring: The toy maker’s Lego Ideas program gives fans the chance to transform their designs into actual sets. Anyone can suggest an idea and if 10,000 fellow Lego builders are in favor the company will look into making it real. And that’s exactly what was the case when Angus MacLane, who works as an animator, storyboard artist and director for Pixar has designed a LEGO version of WALL-E from the dystopian film. The set is now available for sale and is an exact replica of the adorable character.

The massive mech from Voltron: Defender of the Universe is another successful set that was brought to life through the Lego Ideas process. Built with advanced builders in mind, it’s packed with cool details, like the pilots’ arms that can move delta wings that open and close, and a posable droop nose.

Usually, sets are available for two to three years. Then, they’re replaced by a new version. This is a rare case: a design by brothers Marc and Nick Parsons, based on the Back to the Future tree house, was so well-loved in 2022 when it first debuted that it is now entering its fourth year in stores with no sign of slowing.
